Edinburgh - UNESCO World Heritage Site

Scotland’s capital Edinburgh is a beautiful city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to International Festivals and a famous castle. Edinburgh Castle is built on Castle Rock, a 700 million year old volcano.

Stone has always been important to Edinburgh, and so it remains today. At Tradstocks we ONLY supply Scottish stone for our capital’s heritage and public realm projects. Scotland deserves the best. And the best is Scottish stone.

This photograph features a section of the Royal Mile, a historic street that stretches down from Edinburgh Castle to the Palace of Holyrood. Even today, the street plan is very similar to the way it was in the medieval ages. However, at this point, the buildings were often made out of wood. These were often replaced by stone buildings from the 16th Century, and many of these can still be seen today!
